On Sunday, 19 July, we took part in the Rama Sprint 2026 regatta in Ustirama, on Lake Jablanica in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
More than 50 rowers from VK Ustirama, VK Rama, HVK Marina Kaštela and our club gathered on the water. Calm conditions and fine weather provided a good setting for rowing, but the final standings are not what we will remember from this meeting.
We will remember the shared day by the lake, the time spent together after the races and the friendships that grow from one meeting to the next.
Ustirama has a special connection with the water. After Lake Jablanica was created, boats were part of everyday life for generations, connecting the community with schools, work and neighbouring places. Today, children and young people gather on the same water to learn to row and meet their peers through sport.
Trips like this are an important part of growing up for our young rowers. They gain experience on the water, while meeting people, building friendships and learning that a club means much more than the result of a single race.
We thank our hosts from VK Ustirama and our friends from VK Rama for their hospitality, and HVK Marina Kaštela for another day spent in good company.
We return from Ustirama with good memories and the hope that meetings like this will continue — on Lake Jablanica, the Neretva and all the waters that connect our clubs.
