About the Club
Over 55 years of rowing tradition on the Neretva
Our Story
Rowing Club Neretvanski gusar was founded on October 13, 1968 in Metković, a small town in southern Croatia situated on the Neretva river. The club was established by a group of enthusiasts led by Zdravko Vučićević and Pero Jurjević, who brought retired boats from Split to start organized rowing on the Neretva.

The Neretva Advantage
The Neretva river provides ideal rowing conditions year-round. With its calm flatwater, absence of tides and waves, and the mild Mediterranean climate of southern Croatia, Metković is increasingly recognized as an excellent location for rowing training camps, especially during winter months when most European rowing waters are frozen or unsuitable.
